Town of Fincastle

Dear Fincastle Resident:

Shortly after the Town of Fincastle boundaries were expanded in May of 2018, the town’s Planning Commission began working on the development of a community survey. The purpose of the survey is to gather information from the citizens of the Town about what they find appealing and desirable in Fincastle, where they think things could improve, and what they imagine the Town might look like in the future.  The results of the survey will be used to develop a vision for the Town and create goals for accomplishment. The vision and goals are then incorporated into the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, which is a representation of what Fincastle seeks to be in the future.

Please find enclosed a community survey that was developed by the Planning Commission, the Virginia Tech Department of Urban Affairs and Planning and Town staff. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey – your input is very important to us. Please feel free to add comments in the space provided or submit additional comments on another sheet of paper. The surveys can be mailed to the Town offices at the address below, or dropped at any time in the after-hours mail slot at the front of the office on Bank Square, just up from the Heritage Family Market.  If you would prefer, an online version of the survey can be found at:

Once the results of the survey have been tallied, the Planning Commission and staff and students from Virginia  Tech will hold a series of community meetings to discuss the results of the survey. Although a date has not yet been set, we will be notifying the public when we do have meetings. We would like to invite you to attend and participate. If you have any questions about the survey, please do not hesitate to contact town staff at the number listed below or at
